Pak: Four companies qualify for PIA privatisation

The bidding process by the privatisation commission was scheduled for the first week of December earlier and has now been delayed to the last week of the month. According to details, Fauji Fertilizer, Habib Rafique, Younus Brothers, and Airblue have shown interest in bidding for a majority share in the privatisation process of the national airline. The successful bidder will have to make an initial investment of PKR 30 to 40 billion in the airline. The PIA's domestic and international properties are excluded from the privatisation and have been transferred to the PIA Holdings Company." The airline, which had a loss of Rs 986.7 crore in the year-ago period, said hedging actions and more revenues in foreign currencies from international operations will help cushion the currency movements. It had a profit of Rs 2,176.30 crore in the June quarter. IndiGo plans codeshare partnership with China Southern Airlines

On Tuesday, IndiGo and China Southern Airlines inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a codeshare partnership and mutual co-operation agreement. The pact is subject to regulatory approvals, according to a release. Generally, a codeshare partnership allows an airline to book its passengers on its partner carrier on a single ticket.
